794 European finance jobs: what they ask for, what they pay
I pulled 794 live job descriptions from the public career APIs of 11 European financial firms and read every one of them. The finding is not the pay. It is that only 29% of postings state a salary at all.
Only 29% of these postings state a salary. The skills demand is concentrated in a few families, and the pay that is published varies more by sector than by country.

All sectors
Postings by country
Eight largest markets; the remainder of the 794 sit in smaller markets or unspecified locations.
Role families
The largest families in the corpus. Sales and partnerships outnumbers engineering by a wide margin.
Skills demand
Share of postings asking for each skill, all sectors.
Salary disclosure by sector
Share of postings that state a salary range, per sector.
Median midpoint by sector
Published ranges converted to EUR, where stated.
The operator read
Hiring pages still treat pay as a negotiation secret, and that is a positioning signal for anyone running acquisition or talent marketing at these firms. A firm that publishes ranges signals transparency in exactly the market where most competitors do not.
The skills story matters just as much. The most demanded role family is sales and partnerships, not engineering, and the most requested skill is stakeholder management, not a coding language. For a marketer planning content, that is where the attention goes: the people these firms are hiring to sell and run partnerships outnumber the builders two to one. When the roles are AI roles, the cut is in the AI roles in the same hiring market, read one title at a time.

Method and limits
Corpus: 794 live postings from the public job APIs of 11 firms (Adyen, Bitpanda, Lunar, Monzo, N26, Pleo, Qonto, Raisin, SumUp, Thought Machine, Zopa), collected 6 August 2026 via Greenhouse, SmartRecruiters, Ashby and Lever. Every posting URL is in the dataset.
Extraction: each description was read with a fixed schema: role family, seniority, required skills, remote flag, salary range if stated. A second pass merged raw skill phrases into one vocabulary.
Salary: only ranges actually stated in the posting are counted. Monthly and hourly ranges are annualised; GBP, CHF, USD and Nordic currencies are converted to EUR at approximate market rates on the collection date. This is a snapshot, not a comp benchmark.
Limits: the roster is the set of European financial firms with public job APIs, so it over-represents fintech and under-represents banks and asset managers. Sector labels are ours. Where country counts do not sum to 794, the remainder sits in smaller markets or unspecified locations.
Frequently asked
Where did the 794 job descriptions come from?
From the public career APIs of 11 European financial firms (Adyen, Bitpanda, Lunar, Monzo, N26, Pleo, Qonto, Raisin, SumUp, Thought Machine and Zopa), collected on 6 August 2026 via Greenhouse, SmartRecruiters, Ashby and Lever. Every posting URL is in the dataset.
What do European financial firms actually ask for?
Sales and partnerships (272 postings) is the most demanded role family, ahead of engineering (189) and product and design (62). The most frequent skills are stakeholder management (21%), fluent English (18%), B2B sales (15%), field sales (14%) and Python (11%).
How much do these jobs pay?
Only 29% of postings state a salary. Across the 229 that do, the median midpoint is roughly EUR 117,300, and it varies more by sector than by country: payments postings average EUR 117,300, neobanks EUR 115,575 and banking software EUR 87,500.
Why does the salary disclosure gap matter for marketing?
Hiring pages still treat pay as a negotiation secret, and that is itself a positioning signal for acquisition and talent marketing. A firm that publishes ranges signals transparency in exactly the market where most competitors do not.
What are the study’s limits?
The roster is limited to firms with public job APIs, so it over-represents fintech and under-represents banks and asset managers. The snapshot is directional, not a comp benchmark.
